Dear Golf Course Home Friends and Guests,
I want to take this opportunity to send you our best wishes for this Memorial Day. It is a day of remembering, and paying tribute, to those who have served, and died, as members of our Armed Forces and who continue in that capacity today.
It also causes me to remember my family’s long history in the service of the forces of the United States. My father served in the Coast Guard in World War II at Pearl Harbor and as Captain of the Port for the City of Charleston, SC.
My brother served in the army. My great-great-great grandfather was a naval officer who accompanied Admiral Perry when he opened of up the ports of Japan to trade. And going even further back, a Lott ancestor was a bugler in George Washington‘s Continental Army.
I am thankful for all their contributions, service and sacrifice–all of which has helped to preserve our independence and freedom. I am thinking of them this Memorial Day weekend, and my thoughts go out to you and your loved ones who have served as well. Yes, today may be one of celebration. But most importantly, it is one of grateful remembrance.—David Lott, Founder/Publisher
