> Moss Creek Plantation, Hilton Head Island SC welcomes best-selling fiction writer Robert Dugoni and fans of his popular Tracy Crosswhite series of novels to the next installment of the Moss Creek Salt Marsh Author Series, happening Tue., Jan. 24 at 12 noon in the clubhouse. Tables of 10 can be reserved in advance for this event. Dugoni is a New York Times, Wall Street Journal and #1 Amazon Bestselling Author.

On Thur., Jan. 26 residents will gather for High Tea in the Clubhouse Main Dining Room to hear a presentation from staff members of the Daufuskie Day Spa on the latest spa techniques everyone can use.
Then on Sun., Jan. 29 it’s the Haig Point “Chili, Chowder and Soup Cook-Off” at The Mansion, a Lowcountry historic building used for community gatherings. Sailfish Point, FL: Hosting fundraiser Feb. 4.
> Sailfish Point, Stuart FL will hold its annual Sailfish Point Foundation Gala on Sat., Feb. 4 in the club’s Ocean Room with dinner and dancing to begin at 6:30 p.m. Black tie is optional for this gala event, which is the Foundation’s primary fundraiser.
The Sailfish Point Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to supporting college scholarships for Sailfish Point employees, their spouses, and their children as well as for Martin County high school graduates who demonstrate achievement, commitment to learning, and community service. Annual School Supply Drive
Fiddler’s Creek, FL: Donates numerous school supplies.
> Fiddler’s Creek, Naples, FL recognizes residents who recently donated more than 800 back-to-school items for students starting the new year at Manatee Elementary School. There were 69 backpacks, 60 pairs of shoes, 156 notebooks, 49 composition books, 47 binders, 42 lunch boxes were delivered, enough school essentials to check off the supply lists for dozens of students.
The annual school supply drive at Fiddler’s Creek started several years ago, and the donation level has recently doubled from its original dollar amount. Send me more information about Fiddler’s Creek!

Play for Pink Golf Tournament
Mariner Sands, FL: Play for Pink Feb. 14.
> Mariner Sands Country Club, Stuart FL has scheduled its 2017 Play for Pink fundraiser golf tournament for Tue., Feb. 14 on its Tom Fazio-designed Gold Course, one of two championship 18-hole courses in Mariner Sands. The Ladies Golf Association last year raised $11,420 for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation at their annual fundraiser.
Since 2002, the Play for Pink event has raised an impressive $338,029. This tournament sets the tone of giving at the community during Mariner Sands Charity Week, an annual highlight of the community’s social calendar. Send me more information about Mariner Sands!

> The Landings on Skidaway Island, GA is pleased to showcase the work of Landings resident and fine-art photographer Russ Wigh’s by mounting his “Island Icons Art Exhibit” at the Welcome Center during January and February of 2017. Wigh’s chosen subject is bird life and his technique has included black-and-white images shot on a Hasselblad medium format camera.
The Wighs moved to The Landings in 2001 and the 240 species of birds recorded there have inspired Wigh to practice his art in innovative ways. He uses multiple flash units for some images, enabling him to capture a subject at 1/20,000th of a second, freezing all motion and revealing detail not otherwise visible in a photograph.
