> The Landings on Skidaway Island, GA is recognizing the environmental contributions of The Landings Recycling Center, which this month marks four years of operation.
Since its opening on Jan. 11, 2008, the Recycling Center has saved 1,491 tons of paper, 316 tons of cardboard and 165 tons of plastic from being dumped in local landfills.
Aluminum recycling there is managed by a local Boy Scout troop and the Southside Fire Department.

> Sun City Vistoso, Oro Valley AZ and its altruistic residents were recently featured on the Tucson nightly news broadcast for a very large donations of Socks for Homeless Veterans.
The organized effort collected over 1,600 pairs of new socks to be distributed to homeless service veterans.

> Frenchman’s Creek, Palm Beach Gardens FL and its artistic-minded residents will begin a studio series in Oil & Acrylic Painting on Tue., Jan. 10.
The class, taught by instructor Rita Boutros, runs from 2 to 5 p.m. and is open to all levels of skill. Series continues through Feb. 7 at a tuition cost of $225 for the five-week period.
