Special Charity Events Planned at Sailfish Point
Sailfish Point, the 532-acre oceanfront luxury community on Hutchinson Island (just45 minutes north of Florida’s Palm Beaches), has announced its calendar of events for the remainder of 2019 and 2020. Among the special charity events slated at Sailfish Point for the remainder of 2019 and in 2020 are:
- United Way Tocqueville Society Benefit – This important benefit event will be held on Dec. 12, 2019. The United Way Tocqueville Society is based in Martin County and focuses on changing lives through philanthropic leadership.
- The Hibiscus Luncheon – On March 2, 2020, a luncheon will be held to benefit the Hibiscus Children’s Center, a safe shelter for abused, abandoned and neglected children.
The center provides prevention, early intervention and advocacy through quality residential, assessment and recovery programs. Since opening its doors, Hibiscus Children’s Center has provided more than 325,000 nights of safety for area children.
- Florida Oceanographic Society Fundraiser – This fundraiser will be be held on March 29, 2020 to benefit Florida Oceanographic Society.
The non-profit Florida Oceanographic Society’s mission is to inspire environmental stewardship of Florida’s coastal ecosystems through education, research and advocacy.
The organization also offers educational programs to people of all ages, and conducts research and restoration programs that lead to healthy coastal ecosystems.
Other noteworthy events on the Sailfish Point calendar in 2020 include the Landesman Cancer Research Fundraiser on Jan. 27, the United Way Humanitarian Award Reception on Feb. 21, and the Boys and Girls Club of Martin County Distinguished Speaker’s Luncheon in March. WindRiver Hosts Tournament
WindRiver, TN: Hosts tournament October 7.
> WindRiver, Lenoir City TN is getting set to host an installment of the popular and highly Knoxville Pro-Am golf tournament series. The WindRiver event takes place Mon., Oct. 7 and is open to pros and amateurs in the area, with an entry fee of $45.
Players receive points each time they play to qualify for a final tournament at the end of the year. Prizes are given out by the tournament in the form of pro shop credit. Send me more information about WindRiver!

Red Ledges Practices Sustainability
Red Ledges, UT: Recognized for sustainability practices.
> Red Ledges, Heber City UT and its turfgrass maintenance department are being recognized for progressively sustainable agronomy practices. The department’s “limited disruption concept” includes a complete avoidance of hollow-core aerification of greens, an otherwise unheard-of policy in golf.
Red Ledges has also eliminated the use of synthetic foliar nitrogen on greens, choosing instead to use primarily organic, locally-sourced nitrogen and encourage conditions to promote mineralization of the existing nitrogen in the soil. Send me more information about Red Ledges!
