The Landings Golf Teacher Earns Award
The Landings, GA: Golf teaching pro wins award.
> The Landings, Savannah GA congratulates its golf clubâs head teaching professional, Carol Preisinger, on her receipt of the Ellen Griffin Rolex Award for 2022. The Ellen Griffin Rolex Award, instituted by the LPGA in 1989 to honor the late teaching professional Ellen Griffin.
The award recognizes an individual, male or female, who made a major contribution to the teaching of golf and emulates Griffin’s spirit, love and dedication to students, teachers, teaching skills and the game of golf. Quilts for Kids at Dataw Island, SC
Dataw Island, SC: Donating quilts to Head Start kids.
> Dataw Island, SC held a presentation ceremony last week for its Dataw Island Quilters activity group, as some 50 hand-sewn childrenâs quilts were donated to St. Helena Early Learning Center, a Head Start preschool program.
The quilts are provided to three-year-olds at the start of the school year and the same quilt remains with them for their years in the program. Staff members wash the quilts weekly, so the children have them for each day’s naptime. When a child leaves the program, they will take their quilt with them. Ford’s Colony, VA: Hosts nature-themed art event.
> Fordâs Colony, Williamsburg VA has a special arts event on its May calendar, with guest experts from Virginia Museum of Fine Arts addressing the communityâs Garden Club on the topic of âFine Arts and Flowers.â
Curators from the famed museum will explores the world of flowers and plants that are found in artworks from the museum’s permanent collection.
The talk will focus in particular on the Paul Mellon Collections, which reopened at the VMFA last fall. Garden Club members gather for a social hour prior to the guest lecture. Send me more information about Fordâs Colony!

On Sun., May 29 the featured act at 7:45 p.m. will be Davis & The Love, a high-energy five-piece combo playing rock, hip hop, soulful pop and funk.
