PGA Village Verano, Port St. Lucie, FL has an outing to the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse set for Sat., Aug. 23, departing at 9 a.m. A restaurant luncheon is planned for after the visit.
The site of the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse was selected in 1853 by a Surveyors company of the Army Corps of Engineers. In that company was Robert E. Lee, who years later would be defeated in the Battle of Gettysburg by Gen. George Meade. It was Army Lt. Meade who oversaw construction of the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse.
