Reynolds Lake Oconee Tournament

Reynolds Lake Oconee, GA: Looking forward to tournament.

> Reynolds Lake Oconee, Greensboro, GA  announced that the Reynolds Cup presented by National Car Rental, a golf tournament for corporate executives, is set for Sept. 13-15 at Reynolds Lake Oconee.

The tournament will showcase two of the community’s six golf courses—the Rees Jones-designed Oconee course and the Tom Fazio-designed National course. WHAT’S GOING ON AT…

The Landings Hosts Korn Ferry Tour

The Landings, GA: Hosts Korn Ferry Tour this month.

> The Landings, Savannah GA  is making final preparations to host the Korn Ferry Tour, the PGA Tour’s developmental circuit, in the annual playing of the Club Car Championship. The tournament, taking place Mar. 25-28, is contested on resort community’s championship-caliber Deer Creek Course. It’s a four-day, 72-hole, stroke-play competition with a total purse of $600,000.

The event will have a traditional gallery and a full-week ticket is priced at $28, which includes access to a Family Fun Zone and other special attractions. The most exciting day of tournament week happens on Saturday, the traditional Military Appreciation Day. Fans can check out a variety of military equipment, placed throughout the golf course. On the 18th green that day there is a Military Announcer and members of the U.S. military guarding the pin, adorned with an American flag in place of the standard pin flag. Following play on Saturday there is a Military Appreciation Day Ceremony.  Send me more information about The Landings!

> Red Ledges, Heber City UT  was honored by the editors of Golf Inc. magazine in the Aquatics Category of its 2021 Amenity of the Year competition, taking first place. The award cited the Village Center pool complex at Red Ledges for its superior design and functionality.

First opened in 2019, the resort-style complex features a 144-foot water slide, lap-swimming lanes, a water playground, lawn games, plus a poolside bar and grill. > Palmetto Bluff, Bluffton SC is underway with its latest Palmetto Bluff Conservancy Photo Contest. The theme for September 2020 is “Mammals of Palmetto Bluff.” All ages and skill levels are welcome to submit entries, which are blind-judged by a Conservancy committee.

Each participant may submit one photo per month of a subject within the Palmetto Bluff property and all photos must have complete information attached, including subjects, dates, and locations. As always, photos of animals be taken under natural conditions and in an ethical manner that places the welfare of the subject first.  Send me more information about Palmetto Bluff!

 

Poker Run at Pecan Plantation

Pecan Plantation, TX: Poker Run scheduled for October 10.

> Pecan Plantation, Granbury, TX invites private aviators to take part in a Mini-Fly-In and Poker Run event happening Sat., Oct. 10 at the community’s private airfield, The Landings Airpark, from 8 am to 5 pm. This is a small, all-outdoor flying event that because of the Covid pandemic will not include food service, a hospitality tent or other elements normally part of annual Pecan Plantation Fly-In festivals.

A Poker Run is an event in which participants pay a small entry fee and then fly to either five or seven airports where they receive a playing card. > Colleton River Club, Bluffton SC and its resident Art Committee has a scheduled quarterly update of its “Art Wall” in the club’s Nicklaus Clubhouse. This is an ongoing program in which members of the activity group display their selected works. The Colleton River Art Program was launched several years ago with a series of organized workshops teaching various mediums and techniques.

Palmetto Bluff, SC: Hosts meet and greet this month.

> Palmetto Bluff, Bluffton SC will host a Meet & Greet event on Mon. July 20 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the community’s Artist Cottage to introduce Nick Weaver, its next honoree in the Artist in Residence program. A native of the Mississippi Delta and a textiles expert who currently serves as chief operating officer of Blue Delta Jeans, Weaver will hold a workshop with his company’s chief designer during his residency.

Callawassie Island Celebrates Anniversary

Callawassie Island, SC: Celebrating a year of the River Club.

> Callawassie Island, SC will soon celebrate the one-year anniversary of an amenity that has dramatically enriched community life there. The Callawassie Island River Club had its grand opening in April of 2019 and became an immediate hit with residents and their guests.

Members appreciate for providing the best river view of any spot inside the gates, with most tables overlooking the river. A new screened-in porch has added still more river-view dining. A river-front swimming pool is heated in the cool months and cooled in the summer. Send me more information about Callawassie Island!

 

Woodside Cares for Bluebirds, Others

> Woodside, Aiken SC recently received word from the South Carolina Bluebird Society that the community would become a Designated Bluebird Habitat. Woodside was also given the Society’s Nestbox Award for its continued cooperation with efforts to build and place dedicated bluebird homes.

The SCBS has aided in the fledging of over 20,000 bluebirds, including nearly 6,000 birds last year alone. The SCBS also aids and monitors Wood Duck, Screech Owl and Kestrel nest boxes across 88 trails in South Carolina and East Georgia. Send me more information about Woodside!

> Colleton River Club, Bluffton SC has put into service a new and superior golf maintenance device called the Tacit Cup Cutter. Developed in Australia, this new hole cutter offers many advantages over traditional cutters. They include increased efficiency, improved hole quality and enhanced consistency of the hole depth irrespective of the operator.
