New Indian River Colony Club Overpass Honors Resident

Indian River Colony Club, FL: Posthumous honor for resident.

> Indian River Colony Club, Melbourne-Viera FL was pleased to announce that a new overpass spanning the nearby Pineda Causeway had been named for a former resident, Major General John Cleland of the U.S. Army, who lived in the community from 2001 until his death in 2017.

This posthumous honor recognized Maj. Gen. Cleland for his distinguished service in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, as well as for civic contributions over his long second career as a business consultant. Indian River Colony Club Opens Art Center

Indian River Colony Club, FL: New amenity available.

> Indian River Colony Club, Melbourne-Viera FL recently announced that a new amenity to the community is nearing completion, the much-awaited IRCC Art Center.

Finishing touches were being attended to as a group of resident artists who had worked with maintenance personnel on the project gathered for a photo session to show off the new studios and exhibit area.

Woodside Opens New Golf Course


Woodside, SC: Opens new golf course.

> Woodside, Aiken SC recently celebrated the grand opening of its new Hollow Creek Golf Course, the latest addition to The Reserve Club at Woodside.

The par-71, 6,943-yard layout gives Woodside a full 36 holes of golf and is now available for play.

From July 1st through the 5th, members enjoyed a full calendar of celebratory events to accompany the opening of the golf course.

Indian River Helps With Food, Shopping

Indian River CC, FL: Steps in to help with shopping, more.

> Indian River Colony Club, Melbourne-Viera FL is continuing to prove the maxim that nobody does logistics better than the military. The 55-plus neighborhood of predominantly retired military personnel has spend the past month preparing and boxing up between 170 and 200 takeout meals daily.

The community has also been fulfilling supermarket orders off a preset grocery menu, allowing residents to avoid grocery store shopping during the shelter-at-home state order.

As a result of all the community activity, no Indian River Colony Club employee has been forced to apply for unemployment benefits. Send me more information about Indian River Colony Club!

Dataw Island Welcomes New Harbormaster

Dataw Island, SC:  New pro on the team.

> Dataw Island, SC is pleased to welcome its new Harbormaster, Chad Langford, who joins the Dataw staff earlier this month. Langford most previously had served as general manager of the Hilton Head Boathouse.

While employed there, he underwent in-depth mechanical training to earn a five-star certificate in Yamaha boat engine maintenance.

Langford is a Lowcountry native who began his service career on the golf side, working for several years as an assistant golf professional on Bray’s Island. Send me more information about Dataw Island!

New Equestrian Facilities at Balsam Mountain

Balsam Mountain Preserve, NC: New options for riders.

> Balsam Mountain Preserve, Sylva NC is pleased to announce new improvements to its Equestrian Center, which had already been earned it “Best Equestrian Community” honors for the Southeast region by Real Estate Scorecard.

Upgrades include four all-weather paddocks, a larger all-purpose training arena and a year-round boarding program for members.

The new equine facilities are designed to welcome novice riders to the sport via expert lessons in the riding arena.
