Callawassie Island Club. SC: Hosts championship.

> Georgetown led from start to finish to capture the 2018 BIG EAST Women’s Golf Championship Presented by Jeep at the Callawassie Island Golf Club. The Hoya’s senior Jacquelyn Eleey took the individual title.

The BIG EAST title is the second straight for the Hoyas, who proved to be the deepest and most consistent squad in the field. The eventual champs started the final round in the face of windy conditions with an 11 stroke lead over second-place Seton Hall. Daniel Island Hosts $800k Women’s Tennis Event

> Daniel Island, Charleston, SC, is the scene this week for the $800,000 Volvo Car Open, North America’s largest women’s-only tennis tournament. The event, formerly known as the Family Circle Cup, moved to Charleston in 2001 from Hilton Head Island, SC, and is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year.

The weekend matches feature the quarterfinals on Friday, semis on Saturday and the championship final on Sunday. The Volvo Car Open welcomes more than 90,000 spectators each year. Woodside Hosts Toys for Tots Event

> Woodside, Aiken SC will host a special Toys for Tots Tree Lighting Celebration this Saturday, Dec. 9 from 5 to 8 p.m. in The Village at Woodside. For guests who bring along a new, unwrapped toy, there will be free photos with Santa to use for this year’s holiday cards.
